Factory in Taubaté, in the interior of SP, will make “later this year” a prototype that will be used to obtain certification from Anac

Eve Air Mobility, an Embraer company for urban mobility, announced the production of the 1st full-size prototype of “flying car”, called eVTOL, “until the end of this year”.

Eve had only assembled and even flown the 1:3 scale model, which is like a giant drone. Now, let’s produce the real vehicle, which we will use in the future”, said the president of Embraer-X, Embraer’s innovation area, Daniel Moczydlower, to the website G1. According to the executive, this “It is an essential step to begin certification with Anac [Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil]”.

Moczydlower declared, last week, during his participation in the WebSummit, that the company wants anyone to be able to use the “flying car” as a means of transport, as it will have affordable prices.

As an example, he mentioned that a trip from Barra da Tijuca to Galeão Airport, in Rio, will take around 10 minutes and will not emit CO2. A study carried out by the aircraft manufacturer itself indicated that the trip will cost from R$99.

Also according to the executive, Embraer has already received around 3,000 orders for the eVTOL. The 1st factory will be installed in Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo. Deliveries and entry into operation are scheduled for 2026.

ABOUT eVTOL

Eve’s eVTOL uses a takeoff and cruise configuration with dedicated rotors for vertical flight and fixed wings for cruising, without the need for in-flight transition components.

The latest concept includes an electric thruster powered by dual electric motors that provide propulsion redundancy, ensuring high performance and safety. The model was developed to offer thrust efficiency with low noise. It has low operating costs, fewer parts and optimized structures and systems.
