DESPITE BAHIA HAVING AVAILABLE PORTS, BYD IS CONCENTRATING THE IMPORT OF ELECTRIC CARS IN THE PORT OF SUAPE

-

The Port of Suape, in Pernambuco, will receive around 14 thousand BYD vehicles until the last week of June. BYD appears to have chosen the port of Pernambuco as its northeastern “hub” and almost two thousand BYD vehicles disembarked between April 15th and 16th. A new shipment of cars is already leaving the coast of Shenzhen, China, to arrive in Suape and be distributed throughout the Northeast region.

Despite having an exclusive port for automobiles, the Miguel Oliveira Terminal in Candeias, also known as Ford Port, Bahia does not appear to be in BYD’s plans to receive imported automobiles, at least at this first moment. The port of Salvador also has conditions to receive cars. Everything indicates, however, that the option for Suape is related to importing companies

BYD’s operations are being carried out by Comexport, the largest foreign trade company in Brazil and which has exclusivity with BYD. Another importer, Nexus, which operates in the automotive logistics sector and is a national subsidiary of the Japanese group K-Line, established a vehicle hub in Suape around three years ago.
