Italian model says he was fired from the MET Gala and reveals bizarre reason involving Kylie Jenner: “They blamed me”; watch

An Italian model has claimed he was fired from the 2024 Met Gala after “outshining” Kylie Jenner at last year’s ceremony. In a video on TikTok, Eugenio Casnighi explained why he will no longer work as a receptionist at this Monday’s event (6), which will bring together celebrities at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York.

Last year, the boy was responsible for accompanying Jenner on the red carpet, but ended up attracting attention on social media for his appearance. In the video, released last Saturday (4), he declared that he would have attracted more attention than the celebrity and that would have been the justification for her dismissal.

“I just got fired from the Met Gala.”said the young man, before showing several photos alongside the reality show star. “Do you remember me?” he wanted to know.

Casnighi, who worked at the gala for the past two years, said he never opened up about the behind-the-scenes details of the event because he was under an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement). However, after being released from his responsibilities, he decided to “put everything out in the open”.

According to Eugenio, everything was lined up for his participation in the MET Gala, until on Friday (3), he was notified that he would no longer be part of the team. “Funny, they fired me so I can say whatever I want now. They fired me because I went viral last year. So basically they said, ‘You did this for yourself, so we can’t allow you to work there anymore.’ Sorry'”, detailed.

Detailing his former role as receptionist at the event, the young man continued: “Last year, they told me I was going to be with Jenner, all night, and I [a ajudei] with everything she needed”.

Without revealing the name of the modeling agency he works for, the boy stated that he was recruited by the MET Gala, which requires models to work on the red carpet because “they want people to be noticed”. “They literally told me that ‘we chose you because we like you more than other people to be with this celebrity,’ but when people took pictures of the real celebrity… like Kylie Jenner and I was standing next to her… of course, I ended up in the photo and they blamed me”shared.

In one, Casnighi appears alongside last year’s red carpet host Emma Chamberlain as she interviews Blackpink’s Jennie Kim. The boy also explained that there is a possibility that the MET Gala organizers have chosen not to allow any model to work at the event this year. This is because, in addition to him, another colleague would also have been dismissed from his duties.
