Carrefour Brasil (CRFB3) reported that consolidated gross sales totaled R$27.8 billion in the 1st quarter of 2024 (1Q24), an increase of 2.5% compared to the 1st quarter of 2023 (1Q23).

The gross traded volume (GMV) totaled R$2.4 billion in the period, a growth of 52% on an annual basis.

Cash & Carry (C&C) sales, in turn, totaled R$19.3 billion, 6.6% above 1Q23, driven by the growth in same-store sales (LfL) of +1.8% in the annual comparison and due to the 4.5% growth in Atacadão’s expansion, with over 20 new C&C stores in the last 12 months.

Meanwhile, retail sales totaled R$6.9 billion in 1Q24, -10.7% on an annual basis. According to the company, the number is explained by a 24% reduction in the sales area, with 25 retail stores converted into Atacadão stores and 140 retail stores closed in the last 12 months.

Banco Carrefour’s revenue totaled R$15.9 billion in 1Q24, an annual increase of 15.6%, driven by growth of 20.1% in revenue from the Atacadão card and 8.4% in revenue from the Carrefour card. The Sam’s Club credit card reached R$440 million in revenue in the quarter, +192.6% year-on-year.
