Yesterday, the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) approved the average reduction in tariffs for distributors belonging to Grupo Energisa (ENGI11) that serve consumers in the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.

The new rates will come into force from next Monday (8). In the Energisa Mato Grosso (EMT) concession, consumers will see an average tariff reduction of 4.40%, representing a decrease of 5.61% for consumers connected to medium and high voltage, and 3.90% for consumers low voltage.

In the Energisa Mato Grosso do Sul (EMS) concession, the average reduction will be 1.61%, with a decrease of 3.65% for consumers connected to medium and high voltage, and 0.84% for consumers low voltage.

Aneel

A significant change is taking place in the energy sector in Rio Grande do Sul: the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has assumed the role of monitoring energy distributors in the state. Previously, this responsibility was under the domain of the State Agency for the Regulation of Delegated Public Services of Rio Grande do Sul (Agergs).

With the end of the contract that granted powers to Agergs, the 20 energy distributors in Rio Grande do Sul, including names like CEEE Equatorial and RGE, are now under the supervision of Aneel.

Despite this change, Agergs is in negotiations to establish a “new contracting model” with Aneel, focused on inspection and application of sanctions. Meanwhile, they await the restructuring announced by the Government of Rio Grande do Sul.

This transition occurs amid criticism directed at the main concessionaires, especially CEEE Equatorial, due to the delay in recovering networks affected by storms.

The institution

The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) is a Brazilian federal agency linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy. It was created in 1996 with the aim of regulating and supervising the electricity sector in Brazil, acting in accordance with the policies and guidelines established by the Federal Government.
