Petrobras (PETR4) and Vale (VALE3) shares decline, as do retailers, such as Magazine Luiza (MGLU3) and Casas Bahia (BHIA3), which falls 7% after the 4Q23 balance sheet. The large banks operate mixed, as do construction companies, education companies and junior oil companies. Mining, meatpacking and steel companies fall. The draft details that the Central Bank of Brazil sought more flexibility when changing interest rates. Therefore, the Committee decided to change its orientation and bring forward a reduction of 0.50 percentage points in the interest rate only for the next meeting, removing the plural from the so-called “guidance”. Already the preview of the country’s official inflation it slowed down in March, to 0.36%, after the strong increase of 0.78% observed in February. Still on the national scene, analysts’ projection for 2024 inflation fell during the week while the estimate for the evolution of GDP in the year maintained the six-week upward trend, according to data released by the Focus Reports. On Wall Street, U.S. index futures trade with gains after major indices paused their rally. The three main indices ended Monday lower.
