First online betting certifier gains approval to operate in the country

The first company betting audit online may begin operating in the country. The Prizes and Betting Secretariat of the Ministry of Finance enabled the Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) to certify electronic betting in the country.

Published this Monday (25) on Official Diary of the Unionthe enabling ordinance was based on the rules established by the Ministry of Finance in February.

In a note, the Treasury informed that GLI had the operational capacity recognized to certify betting systems, online games and the live gaming studios of bookmakers authorized to operate in Brazil. According to the Prizes and Betting Secretariat, the body’s technical area is analyzing a second qualification application.

Experience

According to rules published in February, betting certifiers need to prove at least three years of experience, which benefits companies with international experience. The standards also prohibit audit laboratory professionals from having contact with bets (virtual betting houses).

Audit laboratory professionals cannot work for betting companies authorized to operate in Brazil within 12 months of system certification. The auditing company must sign a declaration that it does not maintain relationships with and does not depend on any other companies, private entities or bodies with an interest in the results of virtual betting evaluations.
