A 24-year-old man was bitten by a shark after slipping while working on a boat docked in the Bahamas islands in the Caribbean. In an interview with the local press, Marlin Wakeman reported how desperate the situation was.

“I knew what was coming,” Wakeman said as he recalled the moment he fell into the sea. “There are always 20 sharks roaming around. Just before me and my friends were talking about falling into that shark-infested sea, and unfortunately it happened,” he recalled.

According to the newspaper ABC News, the case happened in mid-April in the afternoon. In conversation with the news team, Wakeman recalled that the shark dragged him for a few seconds, but luckily, he managed to return to the boat before another shark attacked him.

After the attack, Wakeman was rescued by his co-workers and the boat captain, who quickly tied a tourniquet to his leg to take him to the nearest hospital.

“He received damage control care at a nearby clinic, where the wound was stitched to stop the bleeding, before being transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center for surgery, as reported by Dr. Robert Borrego, a trauma surgeon at the hospital ”, said the boat captain.

Despite the scare, Wakeman did not suffer serious injuries.
