Porn actress testified on Tuesday (May 7) in the trial that investigates fraud by the former president in the 2016 campaign

Porn actress Stormy Daniels gave testimony in the criminal case against former President of the United States Donald Trump on Tuesday (May 7, 2024). She recounted an encounter with the Republican in 2006, in which she claims she passed out and woke up with no clothes on. The episode would have resulted in a payment of US$130,000 to Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence the extramarital affair.

The indictment alleges that the payment was made to avoid negatively influencing the campaign, but Trump denies having sexual relations with Daniels. The former president’s defense tried to invalidate the porn actress’ testimony, arguing that it could negatively influence the jury, but the judge in the case, Juan Merchan, decided to maintain the testimony.

In New York court, Daniels described the encounter with Trump, saying he prevented her from leaving the room. She explained that the former president stood between her and the door, but without any threat. According to the actress, the Republican did not approach abruptly or act in an intimidating manner. “I had no clothes and no shoes. I took off my bra”he said.

Daniel also claims that he passed out during sex, even without consuming alcohol or drugs. [Quando acordei] I was looking at the ceiling and I didn’t know how I got there.”, he declared. She also shared details about her life, from her career in the porn industry to how she met Trump at a golf tournament.

In the case involving Daniels, Trump faces accusations that he falsely classified reimbursement payments to his then-attorney, Michael Cohen, as legal expenses in his company’s accounting. At the time, the lawyer was responsible for transferring US$130,000 to the porn actress so that she would not publicize her affair with the former president.

Cohen, who admitted in 2018 to violating campaign finance law over payments to the porn actress, said Trump instructed him to do so.

Understand the case

The trial against former President of the United States, Donald Trump, began on April 15, 2024, in New York. This is the 1st of 4 criminal cases against him, with an estimated duration of 2 months.

Find out what Trump’s path will be like until his final sentence:

The focus of the case is a payment of US$130,000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels, made in October 2016, to allegedly prevent her from going public with an extramarital affair with Trump during the 2016 election campaign.

The indictment, revealed on March 30, 2023, accuses Trump of 34 crimes of “falsification of business records in the 1st degree”alleging that he altered records at his company, the Trump Organization, to hide payments to Michael Cohen, his lawyer, who facilitated the deal with Daniels.

Prosecutors, led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, argue that Trump committed fraud by disguising these payments as legal expenses, violating state and federal laws. Trump’s defense, however, claims that the payments were legitimate expenses, denying any attempt to cover up an extramarital affair. Trump pleaded not guilty and tried unsuccessfully to dismiss the case, citing political motivations.

The trial comes as Trump seeks a second term in the White House in the November elections. US legislation allows you to apply, as long as you meet 3 requirements: being born in the USA, residing in the country for at least 14 years and being at least 35 years old.
