On Saturday the 4th, around seven in the morning, friends Carol O’Rourke and Anna Kaftandzhiev went to Monifieth beach, in Angus, Scotland.

The friends wanted to make the most of their rest day and what better way to do that than a refreshing dip in the sea, right?!

But they didn’t imagine that, in addition to the beauty of the beach, they would come across the rare appearance of an animal.

Believe it or not, Carol and Anna spotted an otter!?

Without delay, Carol took out her cell phone to film it and captured the moment the otter was having fun diving into the water.

“I was very surprised to see this little visitor on Monifieth beach yesterday morning while we went swimming!” Carol wrote in a https://twitter.com/MrsORourke_/status/1787100070111764751.

The date

In an interview with The Courier, Carol said that they saw the mammal from afar, walking along the seashore, despite the gray sky and high tide.

“What was really interesting was there was a flock of birds circling around it, and that’s what alerted me to it. Something was there,” Carol said.

The Scottish woman commented that she didn’t know if the birds were driving him away or afraid of being hunted by him. When in doubt, not even they dared to approach the otter.

“He just walked around. He didn’t get very close to us – we didn’t get very close to him,” she said. “And then he went into the water.”

Due to the appearance of the otter, the friends decided not to enter the sea again, allowing the wild animal to dive in peace. So, the duo looked for another beach.

Video

“A lot of people my age, and probably older, said they had never seen one,” Carol said of the comments she received on the video she shared in an animal group on Facebook.

Other netizens wrote:

“Beautiful otter, so beautiful to see.”

“He’s adorable, otters are great.”

“One of the reasons we always pick up a few pieces of plastic on our beach walks. Trying to clean the beach and the water.”
