The former president of the United States and Republican Party pre-candidate for the November presidential elections, Donald Trump, promised this Wednesday (1st) to carry out the “largest deportation” of illegal immigrants in the country’s history if he returns to the White House .

“Allowing millions and millions of people, many of them very bad people, to cross the southern border is not sustainable. They will destroy the country. We are going to carry out the biggest deportation in history. We have no choice,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

The former American president once again accused his opponent in the election, the current president, Joe Biden, of having implemented an open borders policy over the last four years that resulted in an “invasion” of illegal immigrants.

Trump made these statements one day after the publication of an interview with the magazine Team in which he said he plans to send the military to search for and detain illegal immigrants if he wins the election.

In the same interview, he did not rule out the possibility of building new detention camps for undocumented immigrants, although he did not make it a priority, as his plan is to deport them quickly.

Trump, who won the elections in 2016 after promising to build a wall on the border with Mexico, once again placed the issue of migration at the center of his campaign, which has become one of the issues that most worries voters.

The Republican politician took advantage of a break in his ongoing criminal trial in New York to campaign in the states of Wisconsin and Michigan, where he is virtually tied with Biden in the polls.

The New York tycoon had already visited both in April and, at the time, also insisted on the migration issue, accusing Biden of having caused a “bloodbath at the border”.

The Biden administration has reversed Trump’s policy of making it easier to remove illegal immigrants from the country and implemented humanitarian permit programs for people from several countries, while restricting asylum requests at the border. More than 2 million people were detained last year alone when crossing the US southern border illegally. (With EFE Agency)
