Odesa Law Academy Student Palace is on fire due to a Russian missile attack

At least five people were killed and 27 injured during a Russian missile attack on residential buildings and civilian infrastructure in the city of Odessa, in southern Ukraine. The attack took place on Monday (29), according to regional governor Oleh Kiper.

One of the targets of the Russian attacks was the “Harry Potter Castle”, a Gothic-style building that went up in flames after the bombing. The building is part of the Odessa Law Academy, and became known for its similarity to the castles in the film franchise. .

Initially, the number of victims was four, but one more death was reported this Tuesday (30).

“Unfortunately, the number of victims from yesterday’s Russian missile attack in Odessa has increased to five people,” the governor said.

Kiper also reported that the number of victims increased after the death of a man who was rescued, but could not resist his injuries and died in hospital.

Kiper said 23 injured were still receiving medical treatment.

“Eight of them are in serious condition, including four in extremely serious condition, including a four-year-old girl,” he said. “Our doctors are doing the best they can,” he added.

The city of Odessa is the Black Sea port, which is vital for Ukrainian exports. The site is regularly the target of deadly missile and drone attacks.

Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukrainian cities for months and advanced on Ukraine’s eastern front ahead of the arrival of crucial US weapons to Kiev.
