The government of Milan, Italy, wants to ban the sale of ice cream and pizza after midnight. The proposed proposal was presented by the legislature and, if approved, will also prohibit all sales of food and drink in outdoor areas between half past midnight until 6 am on weekdays and 1:30 am until 6 am on weekends. .

According to Euro News, in addition to ice cream and pizza, the proposal also includes a ban on the sale of takeaway drinks. Additionally, bars and restaurants would be required to close outdoor areas at the same time.

According to politician Marco Granelli, the measure is necessary to guarantee peace in Milan’s trendiest neighborhoods, especially at night. He also reinforces that this balance aims to protect both the fun and peace of mind for local residents.

Critics say the ban goes against Italian culture and are calling for the law to be changed. If approved, the law will come into effect next month and last until November, after this year’s tourist season ends. It will be applied in 12 districts of Milan, including Nolo, Lazzaretto, Melzo, Isola, Sarpi, Via Cesariano, Arco della Pace, Como-GaeAulenti, Porta Garibaldi, Brera, Ticinese and Darsena-Navigli.
