A man armed with a sword attacked and injured five people in east London, United Kingdom, this Tuesday (30/4). According to local police, a 13-year-old boy died in the attack, and four other people were hospitalized. Among them, two police officers, who tried to contain the criminal.
According to the British tabloid “Daily Mail”, the 36-year-old man crashed a car into the facade of a house in the Hainault neighborhood. Then, with a sword in his hand, he attacked people passing by on the street, including two police officers and a teenager. After the attack, he was chased and arrested.
According to local authorities, the attack “does not appear to be related to terrorism”. “We are awaiting an update on the condition of the injured. A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is in custody,” he continued.
On social media, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, lamented what happened and said he was “devastated.” He also thanked the emergency services for “rushing into danger and paying tribute to the extraordinary courage shown by the police at the scene,” he wrote.
