On Sunday (28), the model and former candidate for the title of Miss Ecuador, Landy Párraga, aged 23, was shot dead inside a restaurant in Quevedo, Quito, Ecuador. The frightening scene of the moment when two shooters enter the establishment and kill the digital influencer was captured by security cameras (watch below).

Landy owned a sportswear line and also worked as a digital influencer. She was the fifth finalist of Miss Ecuador 2022. According to the newspaper El Mundo, the 23-year-old model participated in other beauty contests and was crowned Miss Turismo de Quevedo and Miss Mesoamerica Ecuador Internacional.
On Instagram, she shared her life with more than 160 thousand followers. In fact, a few minutes before the attack, the model published a video of the order at the restaurant before she was killed. Landy was accompanied by her boyfriend, plastic surgeon José Luis Betancourt.
Images from the restaurant’s surveillance cameras show Landy standing and talking to her boyfriend. Then, the shooters enter the establishment. The model is hit and falls to the ground. José is also the target of the shots, but manages to protect himself with a table. Landy was already lying on the ground when one of the killers fired again.
What is the motivation for the murder of the former Miss Ecuador candidate?
The main suspicion, according to authorities, is that the murder was related to drug trafficking. Landy’s name was mentioned in operation Metástasis, an investigation against organized crime in Ecuador.
Landy was identified as the lover of one of Ecuador’s main drug traffickers, Leandro Norero, who died in October 2022 in the Cotopaxi prison. The Public Prosecutor’s Office investigation found that Norero had paid US$300,000 so that his relationship with the model would not be disclosed.
