A person in Texas, in U.Shas bird flu after having contact with milk from cows infected with the H5N1 influenza virusthe national and state Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported this Monday (1st).

The patient is receiving treatment and the only symptom detected was eye inflammation, the CDC said. According to the American newspaper “Washington Post”, the patient was tested last week and had a test confirming the infection at the weekend.

This is the second case of a person being infected with the H5N1 strain of avian influenza in the United States in recent weeks, after state and national health authorities in the country detected cows infected with the virus on dairy farms in five states in the country: Texas , Kansas, Idaho, Michigan and New Mexico.

According to the Texas CDC, the patient who tested positive for bird flu had direct contact with an infected cow.

The CDC has stated that this infection does not change the assessment of the human health risk of H5N1 avian influenza to the general U.S. public, which it considers to be low. However, the health agency said people exposed to infected birds or animals or environments contaminated by them are at greater risk of infection.
