The first broadcaster to fall victim to the new law is Al Jazeera. The channel’s signal was turned off on satellites and cable operators operating in the region. Last Sunday, the broadcaster reported in a statement that “strongly condemns and denounces this criminal act that violates human rights and the basic right to access to information. Al Jazeera asserts its right to continue to provide news and information to its global audience“.

It is worth mentioning that the station was one of the few that remained in Gaza during the war that broke out in September last year. Furthermore, the broadcaster has frequently accused Israel of massacres and war crimes.
