In chapter 210, in the original version of Renascer from 1993, Rachid (Luís Carlos Arutin) meets José Inocêncio and the two talk at the Jequitibá-Rei farm. The cocoa king appears in the last chapters of the novel in a wheelchair after escaping from yet another ambush.

Longtime friends, the two talk and Rachid returns to the subject of Marianinha’s letter, revealing that he did not burn the material and that he is ready to finally reveal the contents. In the adaptation of the novel, made by Bruno Luperi, this mystery is just beginning. See what was written in Marianinha’s letter in Renascer, 1993.
Marianinha appears pregnant and is expelled by her father
In Renascer in 1993, Marianinha, Maria Santa’s sister, becomes pregnant and is expelled by her own father, Venâncio. During the soap opera, we follow some characters commenting on who this child’s father was or whether she had been abused by someone. This character’s trajectory is repeated in the remake and, little by little, we gain some clues about her past.
Apparently, Bruno Luperi’s adaptation should remain faithful to the work of his grandfather, Benedito Ruy Barbosa, and follow the same paths to tell the story of this character who appears little, but defines important points of the plot.

What happens to Marianinha after being expelled?
In the original soap opera, Marianinha leaves her parents’ house, which was located on Colonel Belarmino’s farm, and leaves everything behind. With her life ruined, she gets lost in the woods and ends up being saved by Rachid, the character who saved José Inocêncio in the first ambush when Colonel Pica-Pau ripped the skin off his back.
With that, the two get closer and Rachid promises to help her take care of the child she is carrying in her belly. After that, they stay together, get married and have other children. From what little is said, Marianinha’s firstborn son ends up leaving home after his mother’s death and Rachid loses contact with the boy.
Marianinha is Teca’s grandmother
In both the original version and the remake, we saw Teca arrive at Jequitibá-Rei’s farm and have some strong feelings about that land. This happens because Teca has a blood connection with Marianinha, which is revealed later in the soap opera. The young woman is her granddaughter and ends up discovering this after she meets Rachid and Inácia, two characters who put together this puzzle of her origin.

Teca says for a while that he feels like he already knows the farms and has a bad feeling when he arrives at Colonel Belarmino’s old house, where Marianinha worked alongside her mother, Quitéria. Furthermore, there is a rumor, which is fed by the characters in the village, that Marianinha had suffered abuse from her own boss.
What is the content of Marianinha’s letter?

He has the mission to find his wife’s sister and fulfill her last request by delivering the letter. However, when he goes looking for Maria Santa he discovers that she died many years ago and that unfortunately it will be impossible to keep the promise.
José Inocêncio talks to him in order to convince him to hand over the material and find out what this secret is between the sisters. However, he says he can’t do that because the letter was addressed to Maria Santa and since she died, the letter must also “die” and so he lies that the letter was burned.
This mystery surrounding the content of the letter follows practically the entire novel. Rachid keeps the secret, until at the end of the plot, in Renascer in 1993, he finally gives up on his promise and reveals to the public what was there!

— You burned the letter in front of me, damn it! — says José Inocêncio, trying to understand how the Lebanese still has the material.
— That letter was a lie… — explains Rachid, taking the real letter out of his pocket.
Then, the two begin to open the letter together. One opens on one side, while the other rips on the other. They start to mentally read the letter and then laugh.
— Ixe maria! So much for that, friend… — mocks José Inocêncio.
Then, Rachid tears up the letter and takes José Inocêncio back to the farm. They talk a little more about the subject and say that the “bastard” who tried to abuse her couldn’t because he would have snapped. José Inocêncio questions whether her firstborn was actually Rachid’s, but he quickly denies it and says that he found her already pregnant. Then he ends by saying that the child could only belong to the ox father, Venâncio.
