Author of Family is Everything, Daniel Ortiz reveals the difficulty in closing the cast after a failure at Globo

Author of Family is Everything, Daniel Ortiz commented with the Pop TV about the difficulty of closing casts due to Globo’s new contract scheme. The writer of the current 7pm show explained that he often has to cast other actors in the place of the one he chose initially due to the fact that the artists already have commitments inside or outside the station.

“Sometimes, an actor who is no longer in the house has a commitment to a series… There were some cases where we were unable to cast certain people because they had a commitment, there was a new season [de série], and today climbing is much more difficult. But also, that reality before was a 1950s reality in the United States. There was a little book here at Globo, [era] little book of protagonists, little book of supporting characters. It was wonderful”, he said.

Daniel Ortiz also revealed which actors he would like to have in Family is Everything, but were already committed to other plots. “I really like Leopoldo Pacheco, but he was already in Fuzuê (2023), Edson [Celulari] I was also in Fuzuê. It’s always annoying because sometimes you want an actor and he’s in a soap opera. Mariana Ximenes had just finished another soap opera, so she has to take a break,” she said.

Known for writing soap operas with a lot of humor, the author took stock of Family is Everything. “We have three comic cores, which is Andromeda’s core, Jupiter’s core with Lupita and the brothers all together, and there’s Grace Gianoukas, who plays Jupiter’s mother. We have several comical characters that I’m betting will be this comic relief. This soap opera also has a lot of drama, Juliana Paiva’s core is very dramatic, Juliana [Paiva]Rafa Kalimann, Jayminho [Jayme Matarazzo]is a stronger part of the soap opera”, he explained.

Regarding watching other soap operas, Daniel Ortiz assured that he thinks it is important to follow the work of other authors in order to discover new talents. “I watch it, especially since they are colleagues of mine. They are new and very good people”, he concluded.
