Grupo Globo’s strict code of ethics and conduct claimed another “victim” this Friday (26). Danilo Scochi, with 17 years at the company and 16 as an anchor, was fired by EPTV Ribeirão Preto, a Globo affiliate in the interior of São Paulo.
The broadcaster learned that Danilo, who was an anchor and editor of the EPTV Newspaper 2nd Editionjoined the MDB (Brazilian Democratic Movement), with an eye on the possibility of running for the position of councilor in this year’s elections.

As he was away from work due to a surgical procedure he underwent, Danilo Scochi was only dismissed today, as soon as he returned to the newsroom to work at the Globo affiliate. The news of joining the political party was already known to the leadership a few days ago.
Wanted by the news report NaTelinha, Danilo Scochi confirmed the dismissal. “Yes, I was fired. The reason is affiliation. According to them, it violated a rule of the company’s code of ethics. As for being a candidate or not, nothing has been defined. This will happen in June, the deadline is the 30th” , informed the journalist, who, therefore, is currently only a pre-candidate.

The former EPTV anchor also revealed that he was dissatisfied with some issues. “Actually, several things were adding up. As I was never heard with the requests for recognition of the accumulation of functions, as I was against making entertainment for journalism, I started looking for a plan B. And the affiliation generated an issue of conflict of interest. And Before anything else, I was disconnected,” he said.

Globo affiliate confirms Danilo Scochi’s departure
