Chapter 102 – Saturday, April 27
Justino and Fulgêncio arrive at the quilombo, but are disappointed to see that there are only women and elderly people there. Sinhá Moça suffers because she thinks her story with Rodolfo is over forever and regrets having returned home.
Justino tells Fulgêncio that he will stay quiet for a while, but then returns to the city to look for Adelaide. Cândida is surprised to hear Ferreira talk about abolition and the Republic. Ana and Nina pay a visit to Ricardo.
As soon as they are alone, a kiss happens and they are almost caught by Inez. Dimas tells Rodolfo and Fontes that she has given up on releasing the Captain. The Baron demands satisfaction from Bruno for what happened on the farm during his absence.
Sinhá Moça is surprised to learn that the Baron is beginning to accept that slavery will come to an end. Bruno is surprised when the Baron says that soon it will be the Italians who will take care of the crops.
Mário declares himself to Juliana and approaches her. The young woman walks away. In Augusto’s warehouse, the topic is Mr. Barão’s sudden change. The Baron tells Bruno that he will change the way slaves are treated and tells him that he will allow them to have a party celebrating the end of the harvest. Afterwards, he calls Bastião and Virgínia to toast with him and promises Bastião freedom.
