Increasingly loved by the public as the welcoming teacher Lu from “Renascer”, actress Eli Ferreira reveals that her mother suffered obstetric violence during her birth. In an exclusive interview with EXTRA, the 33-year-old artist opens up about the lack of a father figure at the time of her birth and talks about the physical consequences that Jerusa Ferreira suffered.

  • Interview: Giullia Buscacio will appear in ‘Renascer’ as Sandra, João Pedro’s new love: ‘There are already people rooting for the couple’
  • Child actor: Son of Marcos Mion, Tefo Mion plays his first protagonist on TV: ‘I’m very proud’

With regret, Eli says that he used to associate violence with the “progenitor, due to the lack of a partner at the mother’s side during childbirth.”

– Of the six natural births my mother had, mine was the most painful. When she arrived at the public hospital alone and on a holiday (St. George’s Day), the staff took her to a huge room, where she was going to give birth, and there was no one there to support her – details Eli, who was not raised by her father and is the second of six children (her brothers are Igor; Beatriz; Andreza; Roger and Victor).

Eli recalls that “the doctors were not patient and asked why she was making such a fuss, feeling so much pain, as it was not her first birth”. In addition to the insensitivity on the part of the professionals, according to the actress, the doctor did not help the mother with the delivery of the fetus.

– The doctor let me “tear” my mother out. She screamed in pain, the angry doctor, on top of that, sewed her up without anesthesia – criticized Professor Lu’s interpreter from “Renascer”.

The artist describes her birth as “very intense”, something that was “very traumatizing” for the mother. Aware of the growing discussion about women’s health rights, Eli reflects on the banality of cases of violence against women at a time of such fragility and vulnerability.

– My mother’s story is very strong, but there are others that are very similar or even worse. We see a lot of violence that women are exposed to at such a fragile time. Of course, if it were today, there would even be a case for a lawsuit. But this was much more common than you think – she laments.
