José Augusto (Renan Monteiro) will prove to be much more compatible with Buba (Gabriela Medeiros) than Venâncio (Rodrigo Simas) in Renascer. The boy will get along very well with the woman’s lifestyle, to the point of being approved by her best friends. Unlike his brother, the doctor will have a blast with Maitê (Gabriela Loran), Janaína (Bianca Dellafancy) and Natasha (Galba Gogóia) in a drag nightclub on Globo’s nine o’clock soap opera.
This will be just another moment of José Inocêncio’s (Marcos Palmeira) first-born son getting closer to his ex-sister-in-law. Still, she won’t give in so easily. The boy will make several advances for them to kiss, but the psychologist will always find a way to move away — usually, under the argument that she is still in love with her dead ex.
But that won’t make him give up. “Their first kiss will be magical“, said Renan Monteiro, the doctor’s interpreter, in an interview with columnist Zean Bravo, from the newspaper Extra.
The scene will take place after Buba searches for his parents, played by Guilherme Fontes and Malu Galli. She will decide to go after the two to reveal who she really is — they, after all, haven’t seen her since before the gender transition –, but the situation will get out of control, and the psychologist will be humiliated by her father. Augusto, who will accompany her on the trip to Minas Gerais, will console her friend, and the two will end up kissing soon after the drama.
Renascer was written and created by author Benedito Ruy Barbosa. The first version aired on Globo in 1993. Bruno Luperi is the novelist’s grandson and responsible for adapting the rural saga that premiered in prime time in January. The remake will be on air until September.
