One of the most acclaimed animations on television, The Simpsons is a reference when it comes to comedy. The series created by Matt Groening has been on the air since 1989, and to this day continues to surprise the public with unusual events.

If in February 2000, fans of the show received the news that the character Maude Flanders, Ned’s wife, had died, now, the plot has just put an end to another illustrious figure. In Cremains of the Dayepisode 15 of the 35th season, the drunken Larry Dalrymple leaves us, passing away off-screen, for no apparent reason.

As the episode begins, Moe opens his bar at 6 a.m. in anticipation of the start of a sports game. Soon the bar is filled with all the characters that normally frequent it, who stay there until the match ends. When Moe realizes that the team he bet on lost the game, he angrily starts kicking out the customers, and that’s when Homer notices that Larry is dead.

As the plot progresses, Simpson, Lenny, Carl and Moe have the mission to spread their friend’s ashes across Springfield, but obviously, the task proves to be more complicated than expected.

It is worth remembering that, in addition to Maude and Larry, the animation also ended the careers of other notable characters, such as gangster Tony Gordo and teacher Edna Krabappel. Larry, however, is the only character originating in season 1 to be killed, starring in the program for 35 years.
