Globo scales program with Seu Barriga for Sunday nights

-

Since 2020, the Chaves series has been off the air on Brazilian TV (and around the world). But fans of the classic Mexican series will soon be able to meet Mr. Barriga again. And on Globo!

Edgar Vivar in No Corre

Actor Edgar Vivar, interpreter of the owner of the village where the Televisa production takes place, is in the cast of No Corre – Gone Delivery, sitcom starring Marco Luque. The production premieres this Sunday (28), after Fantástico.

With this new development, Globo continues its strategy of showing humorous programs at the end of Sunday nights. The tradition began with the classic Sai de Baixo (1996-2002), a huge success that has not yet been surpassed.

Senhor Barriga on Globo

No Corre – Partiu Entrega is an original Multishow production that was launched last year on the pay channel and also on Globoplay. The series revolves around motorcycle courier Jackson Faive (Marco Luque) and his delivery boy friends.

The attraction features Cezar Maracujá, Thardelly Lima, Luciana Paes, Jhonny Klein, Bruna Braga, Gaby Amarantos and Érico Brás in the cast. In addition, the episodes feature luxurious special appearances, such as Claudia Raia, Francisco Cuoco, Emicida, Lucio Mauro Filho, Ana Hikari, Samuel de Assis, Tiago Abravanel, Solange Couto, Lexa, Serginho Groisman and Falcão.

But the participation that should make the nostalgic public happy is that of Edgar Vivar, the interpreter of Senhor Barriga do Chaves. The actor, who has become a household name in the country, is present in one of the episodes of the comedy.

It is not the first time

Edgar Vivar with the cast of Vai que Cola

It is worth remembering that this is Edgar Vivar’s second participation in a comedy program on Multishow and Globo. The actor has already appeared in an episode of Vai que Cola originally shown in 2018.

In the comedy starring Catarina Abdala, Vivar revived his most famous character. He was Senhor Barriga himself during a visit to Dona Jô’s guesthouse and never failed to collect rent from the unsuspecting.

In No Corre, Edgar Vivar plays his Manolo in one of the attraction’s episodes. Thus, Chaves fans will be able to miss the artist on Globo’s Sunday nights.

Successor to Sai de Baixo

No Corre premieres on Globo to fill a slot of programming that had been filled by Vai que Cola, another comedy from Multishow to gain a space on open TV.

Last year, the network aired the 11th season of the program. Currently, the 12th season is in production and should be released first on Multishow. As a result, Globo chose to show No Corre, whose first season has 10 episodes and a second season has already been confirmed.

The track after Fantástico has become traditional for comedy programs since the success of Sai de Baixo, between 1996 and 2002. The program starring Miguel Falabella, Luis Gustavo, Aracy Balabanian and a large cast made history and became a rage at the time.

When the comedy came to an end, Globo launched other sitcoms at the time, such as Sob Nova Direção (2004), Faça Sua História (2008) and SOS Emergency (2010), but none of them repeated the success of Sai de Baixo.

In 2022, after a long time without showing comedy shows at this time, Globo started showing episodes of Vai que Cola, continuing the comedy programs after Fantástico.
