The Ministry of Communications authorized this Wednesday, the 24th, new channels to run the Television Retransmission service in 11 Brazilian cities, bringing a greater variety of quality Digital TV to more than 260 thousand people. The ordinances with authorizations were published in the Official Gazette of the Union.
Minas Gerais leads in the number of cities covered, with four locations now able to transmit digital signals. In the state, this measure will benefit approximately 87,024 residents of the cities of Dionísio, Guaxupé, Cachoeira de Pajeú and Medina.
In Acre, two locations were included in the program: Sena Madureira and Rodrigues Alves, providing access to television broadcasts for the state’s more than 50 thousand residents.
Furthermore, the cities of Solânea, in Paraíba, and Itapoá, in Santa Catarina, also benefited from a greater variety of Digital TV content.
To use the service, authorized entities must obtain authorization to use radio frequency from Anatel and request licensing of the station.
More options
The service aims to retransmit, simultaneously or not, signals from television generating stations, ensuring that signals from generating stations are received in places where they cannot be reached directly or are reached under inadequate technical conditions. Broadcasters authorized to perform RTV (Television Retransmission) services may retransmit signals originating from commercial or educational TV generating stations.
Authorizations for the RTV service can be granted on a primary basis, where the channel has protection against interference, or on a secondary basis, without protection against interference.
