One of the most successful spin-offs of the franchise created by RuPaul Charles, Drag Race France announced the participants of its third season this Wednesday (24). One of the names quickly went viral among Brazilian internet users, while the competitor goes by the name Lula — the same name that became the trademark of the current president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Lula Strega refers to himself as a “bucolic sorceress” who performs on the stages of Paris. The artist will compete with eight others for the crown and the title of France’s next drag star.
Brazilians obviously invaded the official profiles of the reality show on Instagram and Twitter to make fun of the PT member’s namesake. “Lula has already won the Brazilian elections three times and now he’s going after a fourth crown in France”, joked Gustavo Lourenço.
“We already had Obama in Drag Race Italy and now Lula in the French version”, added a profile identified as Luco, remembering that there was an Italian drag queen named after the former president of the United States.
