American actor Kevin Spacey has denied new accusations of sexual assault ahead of the broadcast, next week, of a documentary with testimonies from some men against him.
In this documentary, entitled “Spacey Unmasked”, which will be broadcast in two parts next Monday and Tuesday on the British channel Channel 4, ten men tell their stories about the actor’s inappropriate acts.
Spacey, 64 years old and with two Oscars to his credit, was acquitted of sexual assault charges in trials in the United States and the United Kingdom.
In an interview published on social media with British journalist Dan Wootton, the star denied the new accusations.
“I take full responsibility for my past behavior and actions, but I cannot and do not want to take responsibility or apologize to anyone who has made things up about me or exaggerated stories about me,” he says in this hour-plus video.
Spacey admits having had sexual relations with men “who thought about advancing their career by having a relationship with me”, but “I never told anyone that I would help them with their career in exchange for sexual favors”, he defends, accusing the channel of having given just seven days to give his version of the facts, which in some cases date back almost 50 years.
Last year, the protagonist of “House of Cards” was acquitted in a high-profile trial in London, following accusations of sexual assault committed by four men.
Also accused of sexual assault in the United States, Spacey was found innocent in 2022 by a New York civil court.
In 2019, charges were dropped in another case.
