Funk singer MC Daniel, 26, revealed that he almost became poor again. In an interview with the BrunetCast podcast, at the end of April, he opened up about the high expenses on travel, parties and dinners.
“I extrapolated. I spent more than I should have. I was dazzled and freaked out,” he said. He also said that, for very little, he didn’t have to sell the mansion and the car.
The funk singer revealed that he spent R$300,000 to pay for house rental, drinks, transport and helicopter rides during a New Year’s Eve party with his ex-girlfriend Mel Maia and friends.
“I spent R$300,000 on air tickets in my old relationship. It’s a lot and I could go by car or van. I could leave it for another day to spend time with my family. I was amazed, idiot.”
He was then alerted by the businessman. “My manager said: ‘You, in about three, six months, will have to sell your house and cars. You will be poor again. I said: ‘No, for God’s sake, what do I do?’ And he said: ‘You have to stop spending. You ask for R$10,000 every Friday and give R$40,000 a month to people on the streets. You have to stop spending. Wake up to life, you are not everyone’s father. You have to get up, earn your nest egg and then help others on the street’”.
From then on, MC Daniel reorganized his financial life and said he even started eating PF again. “Then I stopped spending, I went back to eating PF (prepared dish). Thank God I managed to get up. I went back to the mentality I had before. Before, I survived on R$50 a month.”
The businessman also advised the singer to invest in buying and renting properties to have a fixed monthly income.
“They had this idea and it was great. My mother is the one who takes care of my money today. I want to accumulate a lot of money to help many people and have an NGO. I want to give a car and a house to every person who works with me and help people with disabilities, autism, depression and Down syndrome. I see myself like this in ten years,” she reported.
