Kidnapping of Robinho’s lawyer inspired Globo soap opera: Understand the story

The case of former football player Robinho, convicted of rape, gained new repercussions on social media with the discovery that one of his lawyers is Pedro Júnior Rosalino Braule Pinto, better known as Pedrinho.

The story of Pedrinho, kidnapped from a maternity hospital in Brasília a few hours after being born, inspired the soap opera “Lady of destination”from Rede Globo.

Kidnapping and reunion

In 1986, Pedrinho was kidnapped from the maternity ward of Hospital Santa Lúcia, in Asa Sul of Brasília. The person responsible for the crime was Vilma Martins Costawho took him to Goiânia and raised him as if he were his son, with the name Osvaldo Martins Borges.

By simulating a pregnancy, Vilma managed to convince her then partner, also Osvaldo Martins Borges, to marry her. The couple lived together for 16 years, raising Pedrinho as if he were their legitimate son.

In 2002, after a long investigation, Pedrinho’s biological parents, who live in Brasília, finally found him.

Inspiration for “Lady of Destiny”

Pedrinho’s story inspired the author Aguinaldo Silva writing the soap opera “Senhora do Destino”, shown by Rede Globo between 2004 and 2005. In the plot, Maria do Carmo (Susana Vieira) you have your daughter Lindalva (Carolina Dieckmann) kidnapped by Maria de Nazaré (Renata Sorrah).

Just like Vilma, Nazaré simulates a pregnancy to force a marriage with José Carlos (Tarcísio Meira) and change her life. After nine months, she steals Lindalva and raises her as her own, naming her Isabel.

The soap opera was a great success with the public and critics, and Pedrinho’s story touched millions of people.
