After controversy, Marina Ruy explains why she didn’t shave her hair in a soap opera

Marina Ruy Barbosa once again became a topic on social media after Bella Campos revealed that she would only shave her hair for a soap opera for R$5 million. The actress ended up involved in the matter when they remembered her role in Amor à Vida in 2013.

In the plot, the artist played Nicola, a young woman with cancer and the public’s expectation was that she would shave her hair, just like Carolina Dieckmann in Laços de Família, in 2000.

The scene did not happen and, instead, the character died and became a ghost. From then on, rumors arose that Marina had refused to shave her hair and, therefore, the character took a different path.

“If they wipe Bella, it has to be wiped off by Marina, who to this day talk about her not changing her look”, commented an internet user who echoed Bella’s statement.

It was then that Marina decided to speak out. “It wasn’t quite like that. At the time I was called, I was told that the character would be one of the protagonists and that we would do a big social action about Nicole’s cancer (my character!). As a soap opera is an open work, anything can change. And it changed,” she revealed.

Afterwards, the actress justified her absence from the scene. “The author [Walcyr Carrasco] He ended up giving priority to other stories, we wouldn’t do the social action and soon after there would be a passage of time and I would appear wearing a wig. In light of the changes, I spoke with Globo’s management at the time and, together, we saw that it made no sense to scrape in the face of the reality that was being presented. I believe that each case is different, it all depends on the text, the character and the story of each one”, he concluded.
