Xiaomi has been under pressure due to high demand for its new SU7 electric car, but now the company also has to worry about the vehicle’s reputation.

This is because a user used social media to report that his car had a serious failure and stopped working completely after just 39 kilometers driven.

According to the man, who identifies himself only as Wen, the vehicle had basically just left the dealership when it needed to be towed back to the dealership.

Furthermore, after the initial inspection by Xiaomi, no problems were found even though the car was not running.

Commenting on the matter to the Chinese press, Wen reported that Xiaomi’s after-sales staff said that it is necessary to send the defective SU7 to the factory, since only the most advanced technicians will know how to identify the problem.

The cause behind the vehicle failure needs to be investigated upon a return to the factory. The car is temporarily unable to be repaired – a company representative told Wen.

As expected, the matter generated great repercussions on Chinese social media, since it is somewhat unusual for a vehicle to fail after such a short period of use.

Since the repair could take a long time, Xiaomi offered Wen a refund, but he chose to get a new SU7 unit. However, as Xiaomi is experiencing high demand for the vehicle, the replacement should take a few weeks to happen.

Therefore, the company has committed to offering a 150 yuan cash voucher until the new vehicle is delivered.
