Alan Wake 2 was a triumph for Remedy Entertainment and the developers revealed two games that were sources of inspiration. The survival horror game was well received and built on the success of the franchise The Evil Within.

It’s sad to see Tango Gameworks being closed by Microsoft. Kyle Rowley served as one of the game directors on the Alan Wake sequel and opened the door by offering employment to the laid-off developers. Rowley sent an invitation to developers looking for new opportunities and also revealed another inspiration for the game.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Microsoft has closed several game studios, including Tango Gameworks, and this has led Rowley to express his opinions on the closure and share an interesting tidbit about how his projects inspired them.

While the sequel wasn’t as big a financial success as the developers had hoped, despite having a strong launch, they managed to obtain full rights to Control. Another franchise and this change could be quite beneficial in the long run now that there will be no more obstacles and developers can do whatever they see fit.

Now that developers have more power over their first-party franchises, it’s a sign of confidence that the future will look much safer, and a good place to park behind a desk for years to come and make games. Former Tango Gameworks employees will become valuable assets to the studio with their years of experience creating horror stories.
