After announcing that a PSN account would be mandatory in Helldivers 2 on Steam from May 30th, numerous players expressed that they did not want this. The game received so-called ‘review bombing’ on Steam, which means that many gave it negative reviews (even if the game doesn’t represent that). It reached the point of more than 400 thousand negative reviews in total.

In addition to the issue of analyses, Helldivers 2 on Steam it would also be removed from more than 170 countries, as PSN does not exist in them.

With all this commotion, PlayStation finally spoke out and said that the update will not be made. See the statement:

Helldivers fans – we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6th update, which would require Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and current players starting May 30th, will not will advance.

We’re still learning what’s best for PC gamers and your feedback has been invaluable. Thank you again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we will keep you updated on future plans.
