In short, two brands of milk ended up being informed about suspected formaldehyde in their product, according to an investigation by the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul. As a result, the company removed the products from the shelves, however, it denied the irregularity.

This happened in 2014 and despite MP-RS investigations indicating adulteration of milk, the company LBR Lácteos, owner of the Líder and Parmalat brands, denied that items sent to Paraná and São Paulo were “baptized”, as it is called. in a popular way.

Company positioning:

At the time, in the midst of its position, LBR highlighted that it had carried out other tests with milk samples from batches that were possibly contaminated and that no problems had been identified. In turn, the Ministry of Agriculture ordered the product to be recalled, despite this position.

Well, in the midst of this, it is also important to highlight that LBR went to court and asked that the product not be recalled. Ultimately, the investigations led to the arrest of the owner of a cooling station in the municipality of Condor, MS.

According to what was released by the MP, no less than 300 thousand liters of adulterated milk were sent to Guaratinguetá, in São Paulo, and Lobato, in Paraná, and sold. The MP also emphasized that transporters exchanged milk from one truck to another, without any hygiene conditions.

Regarding the company’s current situation in 2024, taking into account research in the main markets and e-commerce sites, both Líder and Parmalat continue with their activities currently, thus showing that the problem has been properly resolved.
