During CES 2024, ASUS presented a great new addition to its Republic of Gamers (ROG) line of cell phones, the ROG Phone 8 line, which, as expected, has a strong focus on gamers.
This week, the brand announced a launch event for the devices in Brazil for the day May 7th, at 6:30 pm (Brasilia time).
The ROG Phone 8 line arrived on the international market in the base version and the Pro version. Bringing a reformulation of the previous generation’s designs, the Pro version stands out for a small LED screen on the back to display information such as time, date and also the company logo. ROG.
On the front of both models, we have a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED screen that features FHD Plus resolution and a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. This panel also has a maximum brightness of 2,500 nits, with the touch sensor responds to 720 Hz for lower latency.
Even though it is a model aimed at gamers, the ROG Phone 8 line is IP 68 certified, with dust protection and resistant to continuous diving in water, generally up to 3 meters deep.
To help with performance, the cell phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which works together with up to 24 GB of RAM in the ROG Phone 8 Pro Edition and up to 1 TB of storage in this version.
Highlighting the gaming audience, the ROG Phone 8 line has an improved cooling system to maintain the temperature within acceptable standards, even during long periods of gaming.
In terms of battery, the cell phones have a 5,500 mAh tank with support for fast charging of up to 65W in wired mode, and this year we have the surprise of 15W wireless charging.
Even though it’s a gamer model, the top of the line comes with many connectivity options, including two USB-C ports to allow you to recharge your smartphone while playing, P2 port for wired headphones, 5G network support, Wi-Fi 7 , Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC for contactless payments.
When talking about the rear set of cameras, ASUS decided to adopt a main sensor with 50 MP, being the Sony IMX890. accompanied by an ultrawide lens with 13 MP, and a 32 MP telephoto with optical zoom of up to 3 times. Finally, we also have the 32 MP front sensor.
