The next Xbox Games Showcase already has a date to take place. Microsoft has confirmed that the next edition of its presentation dedicated to announcing new games will take place on June 9th at 2pm (Brasília time). And, just like last year, the event will feature an extra and very suggestive broadcast.

While, in 2023, the Showcase was accompanied by a two-hour presentation dedicated solely to Starfield, this year’s edition of the event is a little more enigmatic — but not by much. According to Microsoft, on June 9th, fans will be able to check out the [Redacted] Direct. But what is this?

This is a joke by the company, as if the name of the broadcast had been, in some way, censored. And although the studio is trying to remain mysterious, everything suggests that this is the reveal of the next game in the franchise. Call of Duty.

There is no shortage of reasons for this suspicion. According to Microsoft itself, the [Redacted] Direct will bring “a special presentation full of new features in the new game from a beloved franchise.” In addition, it features an image that appears to be a coat of arms or emblem that features three dogs’ heads over the photo of the American Capitol.

Taking into account the font used in the text, the color pattern and the timing of the presentation, everything leads us to believe that we are really talking about the next COD. As this is an annual franchise that has not yet had its next game announced, the Showcase seems like the ideal time for this reveal.

What to expect from Xbox Games Showcase 2024?

Just like in the past, the Xbox Games Showcase should come with several surprises — especially because, in practice, Microsoft doesn’t have many exclusive games already revealed so far. Obviously, we only have Indiana Jones and the Great Circlescheduled to reach consoles in 2024.

For this reason, the presentation on June 9th is perfect for showing a very consistent release schedule — and the new Call of Duty would fit perfectly into that. Another point highlighted by Microsoft itself is that this will be the first Showcase that will showcase titles from Activision, Blizzard and Bethesda, in addition to Xbox Game Studios itself.
