Even with criticism regarding the protagonist’s appearance and the combat-focused content of the trailer, the remake of “Silent Hill 2” continues to be one of the most anticipated games of the year.
Internally, expectations are the best possible. In a recent report presented by Bloober Team, the team responsible for developing the title stated that they were very confident with the final result of the project.

Although the remake pleased fans, the development process did not escape controversy. A gameplay trailer focusing on the combat system became the subject of discussion among the community, who stated that the title was moving away from its essence.
The series has roots in horror and is known for creating an extremely frightening atmosphere even when the graphics were far from being as realistic as they are today. The second trailer for the remake, however, had a “Resident Evil” feel, with a focus on action elements, which had a bad impact.
The president of Bloober Team, Piotr Babieno, went public to comment on the controversy surrounding the promotional material. According to the head of the studio, the images did not entirely reflect the “spirit” that the title would be. Furthermore, he reinforced that the entire marketing strategy was the responsibility of Konami, the game’s publisher.
Before that, fans had already complained about the appearance of James Sunderland, the protagonist of the harrowing narrative. In the first trailer he appeared to be a little older in the original version, which was considered a lack of commitment to accuracy when transferring elements from the classic to the remake.
The Bloober Team also commented on what happened at the time, declaring that the fact that the character had “aged” was an element to generate identification with the public who played the original version, from 2001 — and that, like the game, it also aged.
However, it appears the developers have backed off and, as an update to the game’s Steam page indicates, may have made the protagonist younger, encouraged by the negative reception from the public.
