Have you ever stopped to think about what the best-selling cell phone in history? Many may think it is Apple’s iPhone or Samsung’s Galaxy, as they have been the best-selling brands in recent years, according to surveys by Canalys and Insider Monkeys. But considering the best seller of all time, the one who takes the top spot on the podium is Nokia.

The best-selling cell phone model in history is the Nokia 1100, then the Nokia 1110, occupying the first and second position, respectively. The ranking developed by Visual Capitalist, with data from Wikipedia, Yahoo Finance and Omdia (technology market analysis company), lists the 20 best-selling cell phones of all time.

The Nokia 1100, a device launched in 2003, had more than 250 million units sold until 2009, the year in which it was discontinued. The device became popular mainly in poorer countries, and had basic functionality. The second best-selling in history, which is nothing more than a variation of the Nokia 1100, was launched in 2005 and sold 248 million units.

Although it is not at the top of the ranking, Apple has a strong presence on this list, appearing eight times with its iPhone variations. The 6 and 6 Plus model occupies third position, with 222 million units sold.

Samsung appears only once, with the Samsung E1100 model in fourteenth position, with 150 million sales. Motorola is also present with the Motorola RAZR V3, with 130 million units sold (17th). In the total ranking, Nokia occupies 10 positions.
