The American comedy gave rise to an event in which celebrities are honored in a series of speeches whose main intention is to ‘detonate’ the celebrated figure. Such an occasion, in which the speakers are comedians and people from the honoree’s inner circle, is called a ‘Roast’, and former NFL star Tom Brady had his moment of being ‘trolled’.
The legendary quarterback, ex-husband of Gisele Bündchen was ‘adorably attacked’ by Kim Kardashian, Jeff Ross, Kevin Hart, Will Ferrell, Julian Edelman, among others, and it was comedian Ross’s turn that things got a little tense (check out the video at the end of the text).
When the comedian brought up a controversial episode involving New England Patriots team owner Robert Kraft, Brady became visibly angry and took the stage to scold Ross, saying, without worrying about being picked up by the microphone: ‘No say that s*** again’. The comedian, prudently, did not disagree with the ‘honoree’.
The incident involving the owner of the franchise for which Brady won six of his seven Super Bowls, the main title in American football, happened in 2019, when a human trafficking network was dismantled and Kraft was accused of going to a massage parlor to hire services of prostitution. The place would attract immigrants with false job offers and they would be forced to provide sexual services.
Brady’s outrage at Ross having touched on such a controversial and sensitive subject – at least for him – was compared to the slap given by Will Smith to Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, despite not containing an act of violence. I hope it all ends in a joke.
