Developer Hexworks announced that a new update is available for Lords of the Fallen. Called Master of Destiny, this update marks the introduction of a system that allows you to customize the New Game+ experience based on a series of modifiers that can be enabled at the start of each new cycle.

To start New Game+, simply go to one of the traces and choose the option according to your preference. New Game+0 starts a new journey maintaining the player’s progress, but without increasing the difficulty of the enemies. The New Game+1 option, and the other subsequent options, also maintain all progress, but add more difficulty per cycle started.

Among the various possibilities for modifiers are a permanent death mode, the possibility of eliminating traces, a random rewards system, and much more. Check out all the modifier options in the list below:

  • Ironman: permanent death mode – when dying, the player can still use the second chance in the Umbral Realm, but if they die in the Umbral Realm, the game will come to an end. The character’s progress will be maintained with each death.
  • Pre-Upgraded Loot: Weapons, shields, and catalysts found from enemies or chests will be upgraded based on the player’s level.
  • Random Loot: Items dropped by enemies and found in the world will be randomized. Does not affect quest items or boss drops. Combine this modifier with Ironman to create your own Roguelite experience in Lords of the Fallen.
  • Random enemies: enemies found in the world appear randomly, however, it does not affect the order of the bosses.
  • More Enemies: The world contains a higher density of enemies.
  • Wither Heal: When using healing items, the player only recovers wither heal (gray life bar), making it necessary to damage enemies to recover life.
  • No trace decay: all traces remain in the world.
  • Mild Trace Decay: Some Traces will be removed from the world.
  • Extensive Trace Decay: Many Traces will be removed from the world.
  • Tremendous decay of traces: With the exception of a few fundamental traces, all other traces will be removed.

Lords of the Fallen was released on October 13, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC, and received a divided reception mainly due to the various technical problems it faced. After many updates, most of these problems were corrected. The game also received a good amount of improvements and additional content, such as new spells, new items, changes to boss behavior and enemy density, as well as festive events.

The release of this update completes the free content update plan for Lords of the Fallen that was released via roadmap. Any corrections will still be made available, but Hexworks confirmed that it will turn its attention to future projects that have not yet been revealed.
