To the DAYa friend who participated in the same exam and who saw the moment Feliphe fell ill, said what happened that day.

“We warmed up together, he was fine. We started running and with five sprints left to finish I saw him down. He stayed there and we couldn’t stop. The ambulance came, but he was only removed after the end of the test, around four minutes after falling. Nobody reached him while the test was going on. After he finished, they put him in a wheelchair and that was the moment he passed out and was taken off the track”, he said.

The man further explained that everyone knew that Feliphe was in a bad way inside the ambulance. However, she was not taken to the hospital.

“Only twenty minutes later the director of arbitration appeared, nervous. Without the ambulance, the test would have to be stopped. I believe they wanted Feliphe’s situation to be resolved there so that it could continue [o teste]. But the employees of the Olympic Village [onde foi realizado o exame] They arrived shouting at him, saying “he has to get out of here”. It was the time he touched himself,” he reported.

According to Feliphe’s friend, the director didn’t even know who had gotten sick.

“Imagine a director not knowing who was inside the ambulance. When he found out who it was, who had been at the house for eight years, he started asking if he was with anyone. As he wasn’t there, the director got into the ambulance and then they left.” Feliphe was taken to hospital almost 30 minutes after he started feeling ill.

He also said that in February both had already taken the exam, but failed, as they were unable to complete the tests because of the heat. “There are 40 sprints of 75 meters in 15 seconds. We rest for 20 seconds between each sprint, that is, 23 minutes in total”, he explained about the dynamics of the test.

Wanted by DAYthe Rio de Janeiro Football Arbitration Department (Deaf-RJ), which is part of Ferj, issued an official note (read below) reported not knowing about the delay in the ambulance leaving. When asked about a change in training schedule due to the heat, as the warm-up starts at 8am, Deaf did not take a position.

Feliphe had a degree in Physical Education and was a professional swimmer. He swam for Vasco and Botafogo, in addition to being part of the Rio team. He joined the Eaferj course in 2014 and was part of the Ferj team since 2015. He was promoted to the professionals in January 2018 and participated in several games, semi-finals and finals in both the youth and professional categories.

Wanted by DAY, Feliphe’s family was not emotionally able to talk about the case. The referee will be laid to rest and buried this Friday (10), at the São Francisco Xavier Cemetery, in Caju, in the Port Zone. The wake takes place at 1pm and the burial at 4pm.
