Former Brazilian national team libero and commentator Fabiana Alvim visited the Volleyball Training Center this Thursday (9/5), in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro. The two-time Olympic champion published photos on social media alongside her opposite number Rosamaria and striker Gabi Guimarães, with whom she played at Sesc-RJ.

Fabi Alvim also met with setters Roberta – another former teammate of the libero – and Macrís. Also present at the team’s facilities was the president of the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV), Radamés Lattari.

The players will represent Brazil in the 2024 Nations League, which will be the last national team tournament before the Paris Olympic Games.

The competition will be held between May 14th and June 30th and will be separated into different venues. Between May 14th and 19th, the games will take place in Rio de Janeiro, while between May 28th and June 16th they will be held in China. The final phase does not yet have a defined location and will take place from June 20th to 23rd.

Fabi Alvim’s career and two-time Olympic championship

Fabi Alvim started his career at Sesc-RJ, for which he had two spells throughout his career. The first right when the libero became a professional, in 1992, until 1998. The second, between 1999 and 2000, after playing for Macaé.

Fabi Oliveira’s last club was Rio de Janeiro, for which he played for 13 years, between 2005 and 2018. During this period, the libero won ten titles in the Women’s Superliga and four in the South American Championship.

The libero also played for the Brazilian national team for more than a decade and was a gold medalist twice at the Olympic Games – in Beijing 2008 and London 2012 – and once at the Pan-American Games, in Guadalajara 2011.
