Praia dos Molhes, Torres (RS).

Carmela Beituni, 11-year-old surfer, who was born in Passo Fundo, but has lived in Passo de Torres (SC) for 7 years, started surfing when she was 8 years old and spent two whole years surfing alone, as she had no other girls to surf with her .

Her father recently started surfing with Carmela’s encouragement, he is always trying to support her and help her catch good waves.

The surfer from Santa Catarina and her father love diving in the sea and that’s how they discovered that Zeka Dias, father of athlete Yasmin Dias, gives surfing lessons. So at the end of last year, she and her father invited several girls to surf and compete, because in the South, there are many people who only surf in the summer. The girls started participating in competitions and nowadays, Carmela has made many surfer friends and now she no longer surfs alone.

Carmela has been participating in competitions since her first year of surfing and always encourages her friends to compete too. The athlete has already collected many podiums, but she considers that the coolest championship she has ever participated in was Talento Feminino, which took place in Rio Grande do Sul, as she won third place, which made her very excited to continue competing.

The athlete also wrote her first illustrated book, called How I Met Surfing, in which she tells about her history with the sport and where it all began.
