Carlos Sainz believes he could have won the F1 race in Miami. Taking a general look at last Sunday’s race, the frustrated Spaniard stated that the triumph could have come if he had stopped a lap earlier.

Lando Norris was the big name in the race in the United States as he won for the first time in his career. The McLaren driver made the leap just at the time of the safety car, going to the pits, making the change and managing to stay ahead at the green flag.

Meanwhile, the Ferrari starter suffered more during the race, he came in sixth during the race, had a tougher fight with Osccar Piastri and even ended the day with a 5s penalty for the move against the Australian.

Therefore, frustration was Sainz’s word in Miami. “I really had a good start, I was in second place in turn 1 and as they used to say, Checo came like a torpedo. He almost took us all out, we had to dodge. I lost positions because of that move, I had a good pace”, he commented.

“If we had extended one more lap, we would have won like Lando did. We stopped one lap before the safety car and we were ahead of Lando at that moment. So, I’m a little frustrated, a little upset with the start, with Oscar because he took me off the track and made contact,” he added.
