Walewska’s widower comments on fight over inheritance and defends himself against accusations < In Attack

Ricardo Alexandre Mendes, widower of Olympic champion Walewska Oliveira, spoke about the sharing of the former player’s assets, who died in September 2023. The former athlete did not leave a will and, therefore, her husband and family are fighting over the inheritance. Ricardo, married to Wal until her death, is the executor.

“By virtue of a court decision, Ms. Walewska’s inventory process is being processed in secret due to her notoriety as a renowned athlete and, therefore, a public figure, and it is everyone’s duty to respect and ensure this determination.”

“Regarding the police investigation, it is worth informing that it was archived at the request of the Public Ministry, the reasons for which were fully accepted by the Judiciary”, said Ricardo through his legal advisor, represented by lawyer João Vinícius Manssur.

The legal action seeks to identify the assets left by Walewska after her death: 23 properties and R$5 million in financial investments. Furthermore, the Olympic champion’s family accuses the businessman of unfairly charging the family rent.

In a statement, the businessman refuted the accusations and said he was an “heir”.

“It requires the care and administration of all the assets left by Mrs. Walewska and has already been responsible for presenting the list of the assets left, which will be shared at an opportune procedural moment among all the heirs, the category in which it is found, all in accordance with with legal standards and under the scrutiny of the Judiciary”, concluded the lawyer.
