Coach Fernando Seabra revealed how his contact with Cruzeiro’s new board has been. The coach of the celestial team now reports to a new football department, led by Alexandre Mattos, and a trusted man of businessman Pedro Lourenço, owner of the club’s Sociedade Anônima de Futebol (SAF).
“In that first moment it was very calm (the contacts). They all gave me a lot of support and confidence to carry out the work in the best way possible”, he revealed, in an interview after Cruzeiro’s 3-0 victory over Alianza-COLin the fourth round of the Copa Sudamericana.
With the departure of Pedro Martins, Paulo André and Paulo Autuori, the new Cruzeiro football department gained new members: Alexandre Mattos, a kind of CEO of the sector, former defender Edu Dracena, technical director, and Paulo Pelaipe, director of soccer.
In addition to these, Pedro Lourenço himself, “Pedrinho”, supports Seabra’s continuity in technical command of the blue team.
“What I can say is that we had a very peaceful work week. We followed the content without any problems, they have provided support and observed the routines. With the experience they have, with their own vision of football and football processes, they bring important points that they believe can help us make the work even better”, he concluded.
Since being rehired to work at Cruzeiro, now as coach of the first team, Fernando Seabra has managed the team in eight games. So far, the coach has three wins, one defeat and four draws. There were 13 goals scored and ten conceded in this initial period.
