Tricolor victory! At the Ulrico Mursa Stadium, on the coast of São Paulo, Fluminense visited Santos and defeated the opponent by a score of 1-0. With the triumph, the Rio team left the Brazilian Women’s Championship relegation zone, overtaking the São Paulo team itself, and rose to 11th place in the overall table.

In the first half, both clubs found it very difficult to create clear scoring chances. The best opportunity came at the feet of Carol Baiana, from Santos, who almost completed a cross from the right by Maria Alves. Soon after, midfielder Suzane Pires took a long shot and goalkeeper Amanda Coimbra made a good save. In the final stage, the confrontation became even more truncated and the teams were unable to complete their moves with submissions. In stoppage time, young Mileninha took advantage of a free ball in the area and opened the scoring for Fluminense.

Now, Fluminense has a campaign of two wins, two draws and four defeats in eight rounds played in the Brazilian Women’s Championship. The result saw the Rio club leave the relegation zone of the national league, opening a point away from Santos himself. Internacional, Avaí/Kindermann and Atlético-MG complete the teams that, if the championship ended today, would be relegated to Series A2.

In the next round, Tricolor will face Avaí. The match will take place on Tuesday (7), at 3 pm, Brasília time. Soon after, at 7pm, Santos enters the field against Grêmio, looking to recover in the competition.
