Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher believes Max Verstappen will leave Red Bull Racing. His talk came after confirmation of the departure of Adrian Newey, renowned engineer from the Austrian team.

Schumacher has previously commented that Red Bull will ‘slide into mediocrity’ in about two years. Now, he reinforces the prediction and relates it to Newey’s departure.

In an interview with Formel1.de, the German stated: “Max Verstappen will leave the team. Along with other good engineers who will certainly go to other teams, some of them with Adrian Newey. I don’t know if it will be next year, or the year after that, but for me it is certain that he will leave Red Bull.”

In recent months, rumors about Verstappen’s possible move to Mercedes have gained strength, but no official news has emerged about a negotiation between the Dutch driver and Toto Wolff’s team.
