Lukas and Julia Bergmann dream of being Brazil’s first Olympic medalist sibling couple | volleyball

The Bergmann family can make history and achieve an unprecedented feat in the 104 years of Brazilian participation in the Olympics. Young pointers Julia and Lukas could be the first pair of brothers to win a medal for their country at the Olympic Games.

Both have already played for the Brazilian team in other competitions and are strong candidates to be called up to play for the yellow team in Paris.

At 2.04 meters tall, the 20-year-old was one of Sesi-Bauru’s highlights in the campaign that ended with victory over Campinas in the decision played in Recife. The player was elected the revelation of the Superliga and was in the championship team as one of the two best pointers.

Asked about his dream of being called up to defend the national team at the Olympic Games, Lukas demonstrated his feet on the ground.

– Everyone is looking for that Olympic spot. There are many players who are qualified. It’s everyone’s dream and I want to pursue this position. It’s going to be difficult and if it doesn’t happen, it’s okay. I’m focused on the process – completed the Sesi-Bauru pointer.

Also in an interview with gesister Julia spoke about the strong connection she has with Lukas and gave voice to the duo’s dream.

– Last year, no one thought that there could be two Bergmanns at the Paris Olympics, but now three months it is so close and it is possible. We would be the first pair of brothers, one male, one female, to play in the Olympics for Brazil. Just the fact of being so close, so close, is really cool and he will definitely work hard to be there and so will I – said Julia.

Daniele and Diego Hypólito were the first couple of brothers to participate in an Olympics for Brazil in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 editions. However, only the brother won a medal.
